Indiana Constructors, Inc. (ICI) has been the voice of the highway, heavy, and utility construction industry in Indiana for nearly 100 years.
ICI serves its member companies and their employees through safety services, legislative advocacy, labor relations, communications and workforce development initiatives. It is Indiana’s highway, heavy and utility chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America and the Indiana affiliate of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association.
On Feb. 4, 1924, a group of 25 highway contractors organized into the Indiana Municipal and Highway Contractors Association of Indiana. On September 8, 1924, Acting Secretary W.M. Holland filed the association’s articles of incorporation with the Indiana Secretary of State.
Since that time, the association has undergone several name changes, but it has continued to represent road builders and suppliers. The founding principles of stability for the entire industry and integrity in everything Indiana Constructors, Inc. does remain to this day.
As ICI approaches its 100th anniversary, we’re looking back on a century’s worth of progress with the goal to celebrate our achievements, educate Hoosiers on the impact of our organization and its members and motivate people to become involved in the industry.
From its inception in 1924 through today, ICI’s committee structure provides the foundation for our member-driven success. We encourage member company employees to join our centennial celebration committees to lend their creative ideas and expertise in planning and executing a memorable centennial celebration.
The Budget Committee provides financial advice, allocates existing funds and develops fundraising strategies for specific events or charitable giving associated with our centennial celebration.
The Events Committee is putting the “celebrate” into our centennial celebration. This committee helps plan event locations, activities and more to make our centennial year unforgettable.
ICI has 100 years of history to gather and reflect upon. This committee helps connect us to the past through historic stories, equipment, photos or other relics.
This committee is tasked with crafting the communications tools, messaging and collateral materials to inform audiences about the association, its impact on Hoosiers and its centennial celebration.
ICI’s centennial is a celebration of our member companies and their employees’ impact over the last 100 years. This committee helps us to engage all member company employees – from presidents and CEOs to supervisors and field personnel.
This committee helps develop relationships with community partners and potential sponsors to spread the word about our celebration throughout the state.
Help us document how Hoosier workers have turned our state into the Crossroads of America. Tell us about your career journey or share that sepia-tone photo of your grandfather and his crew sitting with their legs dangling from a half-completed iron bridge.
